Synopsis: A rambunctious Thanksgiving "cast party" at Ashlyn's ends with surprising news for Gina, while Miss Jenn and Mr. Mazzara accidentally spend the holiday together at East High.
Overview: A group of East High students countdown to the opening night of their school’s first-ever production of “High School Musical.” Showmances blossom; friendships are tested while new ones are made; rivalries flare and lives are changed forever as these young people discover the transformative power that only a high school drama club can provide.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is a live-action Disney+ Original series based on the three original High School Musical films. It premiered on November 12, 2019, the launch date of Disney+. In October 2019, before the series even premiered, it was announced that it was already renewed for a second season.
Series plot line: The 10-episode scripted series, set as the real-life East High, where the original movie was filmed, follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school's first-ever production of "High School Musical." With meta references and some docu-style elements, it's a modern take on the "classic" from 15 years ago. Show-mances blossom; friendships are tested, while new ones are made; rivalries flare; songs are sung; and lives are changed forever as these young people discover the transformative power that only high school theater can provide.
